Heavy horse - plough

OK I realise that ploughing really isn't driving in the real sense of the word but the men were driving their horses in a way.

Dave and I went to watch the local ploughing contest and found there were two pairs of heavy horses out in the field. When I get the chance will post some more.

Decided to change a couple of the photos to sepia to bring back the nostalgia and old worlde charm that these gentle giants bring.

Hi all,

Katy and I did a 12 miler today in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

It was organised by the Ipswich Horse Society and is an annual event. The grounds are beautiful. It was a lovely day and a lovely ride.

went into hos[ital the other week with a heart attack and they found out that my heart was doing a over run.

so they had to get it to come down to its right beat it was scary as you watched your monitor and you heart beat would jump from 80 beats to 120.

they had to put me under and then they zap your heart with a electric charge and hope it puts it back into the right timing.

so far its worked and have to go up to the hospital tomorrow to get a check up....................alan

failed fosterer alert

alun and I were fostering a dog for a rescue,

as of today we have joined the many failed fosterers around, and have officially adopted Patch.

This is the latest addition to our family, a JRxCollie, 7 months old and a right scaredy cat but that hopefully will change.

The big collie is my oldie Blake, who at 11yo is entering his 2nd puppyhood.

Which do you prefer?

Some are good, some are not so good for our neds. The ones like Linseed & Flax contain Omega 3 fatty acids that are good for coat, skin, muscle, bone etc. Some put on weight and whilst others can make a horse hyper.

There is so much conflicting info out there (as usual).

So...... what experiences have you guys had. What has worked well or not so well for you and your horse/pony. How much did you use, how long before you noticed any improvement or detremental ...

As much as I despise the host country I'll be watching the Equestrian events & following the progress of diver Tom Daly.

John Whitaker is the oldest British athlete at the Olympics, he was 53 this week.

Ian Millar is riding for Canada ,he's now 61.

I can remember watching them competing on Milton & Big Ben 20 years ago.

The oldest is 67...a Japanese dressage rider [/i]

Had a FAB time.....although never walked so much in my life! Did every theme park imaginable: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Seaworld (twice), Universal (both parks), Discovery Cove, Disney Hollywood Studios, Arabian Nights, WonderWorks, Aquatica and various other not-so-big stuff. Never want to eat again, after the first week I gave up on ordering main courses and stuck to appetisers LOL.....the meal's are way to big for a Brit!

Here are a few pics that I took of my little man today. He had just had another bath. Handled it better than the first one he had. I put his bit in and tried him with Katy's saddle. thats the second time he has had the saddle on.

He just took all in his stride and looked at me as if to say '.....and?'

Had to do the girth up on the stirrup strap as it is obviously too big for him, being Katy's one. He didn't bat an eyelid, bless him.

You can see he was that bothered by it all, ...

I've spent loads of money.....and feel so good LOL

.....had a right crappy couple of weeks and got a funeral to go to today.

It was bloody brilliant.......and no laughing now but, I think I can honestly say it was one of the best concerts I've been to, and I've been to quite a few in my life.

He's a true showman and got the whole 16,000 people up on their feet dancing and singing along. Did all the old favourites and some of his new stuff. His band is amazing (all a bit old now LOL) but, hells bells did they belt the sounds out, was a real full orchestra effect. But, the best bit was his voice.....his records ...

Here is a pic of Alfie taken today. He had his first proper bath with the hose. He didn't like the hose at first but I kept reassuring him and he eventually settled and stopped running about.

He is turning into a nice looking little fella don't ya think. But then I am biased I suppose. lol

He has a borrowed bit in here. I actually went and bought him a new (bigger) one a little while after taking this pic as it was a bit small.

I have just about recovered from monday.

Sunday night nobi coliced, which we usally see off ourselves with homeopathy, but after 40 min of not much improvement we called the vet, i thought he was really gonna die at one point, he was on his back with his legs in the air ,,we had to pull him back up with ropes,,nt easy. Then 2 min later he passed whatever was bothering him and all was fine ,,, then the vet turned up an nobi was stuffing his face like nothing had happend lol

Monday morning,,,got ...

we learnt something new yesterday if its wet muddy underfoot at a show dont bother to chalk your horses whites as we entered the ring yesterday all the horses had wet dirty feet whites judge said im not looking at there clean white socks in wet muddy weather its coat condition body condition and the way your horse moves etc we had great day at ladys first show of the season even though it was wet but she did great she got special 4th place and 1st place this was her very first 1st and all lynn ...

just thought i would say hello,,,, and update with a few pics,,,oh and i bought tickets last night to go and watch the foo fighters with manic street preachers supporting ,,cant wait.

Ok, this is rufus, a two year old morgan colt meeting with harvey the samoyed

and this is kai, looking more and more like his dad

still waiting for news on the move,,,but we went to devon this weekend to measure up and meet the stable builders etc, then we have fish and chips by the sea

Just her neck, half her shoulders and half her saddle area to go.........

Washed her mane this morning.....didn't come up as white as I thought so will need another shampoo. Her tail is next.............will do that next week if the weather holds out....that will probably take a litre of shampoo to bring up sparkly.

Her field mate was hovering nearby and looking at me with great distaste........she was literally saying "if you come near me with that bucket and sponge, am going ...

Have been pretty busy .......far too nice to sit indoors on the 'pooter at the moment. Am working 2 hours each morning at the boarding kennels at the farm this week, just helping out coz Susan sprained her wrist and was stuck with the mucking out. Horses are much nicer to muck out than dogs LOL Tis good fun though.

Another mate at the farm is on hols so am looking after her two ponies this week, they are very sweet and I love them to bits.......they are really affectionate and love a ...

Astra has had the best winter since I had her.........and she is looking FAB!

No word of a lie......her winter coat is coming out in clumps and underneath she's nicely rounded and has a "beautiful" summer coat......it's coming back really flea-bitten, soft and shiny.......

Last year she looked really manky in summer and I was a bit worried that she might be starting off with cushings coz her summer coat was really yuk.....still a bit "too" hairy for a summer coat ...

Just joined the syston branch of the PC and last year and this year they have been invited to ride around badminton on may bank holiday monday (day after sj at badminton). We get to ride up to the jumps, and go through the famous badminton water. Cant wait, gonna be such a laugh xx
